Welcome to the first ever Laboratory Internships Virtual Event (L.I.V.E.) Career Fair brought to you by the Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Science (SC) Workforce Development for Teachers and Scientists (WDTS)! This free event will allow you to explore internships in the science, technology, engineering, and mathematical (STEM) disciplines. During this event, you will be able to learn more about paid participation programs, such as the Science Undergraduate Laboratory Internship (SULI) and the Community College Internship (CCI) programs. These opportunities will give you the chance to gain hands-on experience at a world-class DOE national laboratory, such as the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). You can learn more about each program below. SULI Program Overview
The Science Undergraduate Laboratory Internship (SULI) program encourages undergraduate students to pursue science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) careers by providing research experiences at the Department of Energy (DOE) laboratories. Selected students participate as interns appointed at one of 17 participating DOE laboratories/facilities. They perform research, under the guidance of laboratory staff scientists or engineers, on projects supporting the DOE mission.
CCI Program Overview
Community College Internship (CCI) program seeks to encourage community college students to enter technical careers relevant to the DOE mission by providing technical training experiences at the DOE laboratories. Selected students participate as interns appointed at one of15 participating DOE laboratories. They work on technologies or instrumentation projects at major research facilities supporting DOE’s mission, under the guidance of laboratory staff scientists or engineers.
